 As a non-denominational layman, I get all kinds of email.

 I received an email from someone asking me the question, "Do you believe that God would accept a homosexual relationship?" I responded to the person, but never heard anything back from them. Therefore, I am presenting it here as an open letter to professing Christians who are homosexual.

 XXXXXXXX,

 The first thing that should be determined is whether or not homosexuality is sin. If it is sin, according to the Word of God (not man's ideas or opinions), then I would say God would not allow an unrepentant homosexual to enter Heaven any more than any other unrepentant sinner would be allowed to enter Heaven. If it is not sin then, yes, God would accept a homosexual relationship just as He accepts a heterosexual relationship ... but ONLY in marriage - NOT adultery or fornication.

I was not a homosexual. However, I was bound by a number of unclean spirits. You see, there are many, many unclean spirits which can take up residence in a person's heart, soul, mind and body ... and from a very, very young age. Some have the spirit of lying, some that of stealing, some adultery, some drunkeness and the list goes on and on ... and some have more than one unclean spirit as the man who had the legions dwelling in him, that came out at the words of Christ and went into a herd of swine which ran down a steep place and drowned in the sea. The power of the Holy Ghost delivered me "cold turkey" of the unclean spirits which had me bound at mile marker 7.

My calling is not that of a "fruit inspector." But if there is a favorable mention of acceptance from God for homosexuality in the Bible, I am unaware of it ... nor am I aware of a favorable mention of acceptance from God for drunkeness, idolatry, witchcraft and a whole host of other things that God abhors. However, I will say this, God loves sinners, but HATES sin. That is why the first step towards God for everyone ... and I mean EVERYONE ... is to repent of their sins.

I did a few searches in from my concordance and listed what I found below. If you have a concordance, you may want to take a little closer look at a few of the words to get a better idea of what the scriture is actually saying. By the way, the following scriptures do seem to be a rather scathing rebuke of homosexuality. However, I would treat a person who has the spirit of homosexuality with the same love, compassion and respect that I would treat someone else who had another kind of spirit. But don't interpret this as my condoning any type of sin. In the eyes of God, sin is sin is sin.

I am not your "run of the mill" Bible thumper, and am a little rougher around the edges (so to speak) ... but it's because of where I've come from. I'm not as easily offended as most folks. I can be around someone doing the things I used to do and it doesn't make me want to do it ... nor does it have a major negative impact on me. For the most part, it just doesn't bother me one way or the other. No one "made" me quit. But I will say this, without the Holy Ghost abiding in us and directing our steps, we can't over come the sins of the flesh ... but with the Holy Ghost abiding us, we WILL be completely delivered from whatever the bondage may be ... and I am living proof!

XXXXXXXX, This may not be what you wanted to hear, but I don't follow the crowd which thinks that whatever a person "feels" is o.k. is o.k. or that of elevating their opinions and ideas to the same level (or above) that of the Word of God.
